Homebuyer Education
The Valley Home Store offers prospective buyers in Eagle County access to educational programs and personalized mentorship, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the home-buying process.
These resources are thoughtfully designed to educate individuals on every aspect of purchasing a home, with a particular focus on providing expert guidance for understanding and managing the unique aspects of deed-restricted properties.
The Homebuyer Class
This class provides a comprehensive overview of the home-buying journey, covering key topics such as:
Budgeting and financial planning
Lending and mortgage options
Down payment assistance programs
Real estate processes and transactions
Homeowners associations (HOAs)
Post-purchase responsibilities and tips
Completion of The Homebuyer Class (or an equivalent class) is a requirement for purchasing a deed-restricted home in Eagle County. It is also necessary to access our Down Payment Assistance programs.
To accommodate different schedules and preferences, the class is offered in a combination of in-person and online sessions. Be sure to check the location details when registering for a class.

Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation
MGIC provides a self-paced, free class where you can study at your own convenience. The topics covered in this course include preparing to buy a home, the home-buying process, obtaining your mortgage, finalizing your loan, and becoming a successful homeowner. eHome America
eHome America offers its course online, allowing you to complete it at your own pace. You have the flexibility to select any counseling agency throughout the state for a final follow-up phone call. The course covers various topics, including readiness for home buying, money management, establishing and maintaining good credit, the advantages and disadvantages of homeownership, different types of loans, and how down payment assistance programs operate.
